Wallkill Valley Writers

Who we are...

A safe and supportive community of writers. Writers, or anyone who yearns to write, can experiment and discover their unique, original voice.

WVW invites you to make writing your art.

What we do...

Three-hour online workshops devoted to the discovery of images, stories and memories that rise-up from our imagination or unconscious. As workshop Leader, Kate Hymes, offers prompts. Writers then write whatever comes up for 20 minutes. Once the time for writing is up, writers are invited, not obligated, to share this freshly-written work by reading it aloud. Other workshop writers and the leader listen deeply, then respond by stating what stayed with them or what was strong. There are two writing-reading and response periods in 3 hours workshops; only one in two-hour workshops.

Weekly workshops

Three-hour online workshop series that meet weekly for eight weeks—Sunday and Wednesday afternoons. Two-hour online workshop, Thursday evenings. Workshops limited to 8 writers. See WVW registration for upcoming Weekly Workshops..
